New Names Showdown 2023: Girls Final

New Names Showdown 2023: Girls FinalThe votes are in!

Eight names started out in this year’s New Names Showdown for the girls. After two rounds, your votes have narrowed the field to just two finalists.

The eight names that opened our contest were:

  • CIELO
  • EMILIANA
  • GEORGINA
  • LOVE
  • MARIGOLD
  • MEILANI
  • NORI
  • XYLA

As of last week, we were down to just four names. They faced off in our semifinals, and here’s how that turned out:

Nori confidently collected just over 60% of the vote, besting Cielo. This was a little bit of a surprise. Then again, maybe not. Both are modern names with just enough connection to established choices. I can imagine sisters called Nori and Cielo. And in the end, the margin of votes wasn’t that dramatic.

Marigold garnered 61% of the total, leaving Emiliana behind. Same thing here! I thought this match might be closer, considering that Emiliana and Marigold are both traditional-with-a-twist kind of names, Margaret and Amelia turned up to eleven. But it was relatively close in the end.

That means our very last contest in the New Names Showdown 2023 for the girls is here.

Your vote decides!

NORI v MARIGOLD

Thank you for voting! The contest stays open through Wednesday, July 26th. Check back on Saturday, July 29th to find out which names win.
