Halloween is my favorite holiday.
For a dozen reasons, but here’s one: a great neighborhood for trick-or-treating is a great neighborhood the other 364 days a year. Or, if I can walk to a coffee shop, the library, a movie theater, and a bunch of grocery stores, then my sidewalks are almost certainly welcoming to a bunch of kids carrying overstuffed pillowcases full of candy.
Here’s another: I sometimes think the costumes that I see are harbingers of future trending names. In terms of costumes, Rumi was the winner by a mile. (Not only did I stop counting after the fifth Rumi, at least four family members/friends shared pics of their little Rumis in other neighborhoods.) Wednesday was well-represented, too, though, and with the second season back on Netflix, 2025 might be Wednesday’s year.

Sweet, summery June feels like an optimistic name for a daughter born at any time of year.

There were a lot of Lorax costumes in circulation in our area this year. What does that say about naming trends?
The nickname shirts might be fun for adults, but think twice about getting one for a child- letting strangers know their name without having to ask them/earn that trust and info is not a smart choice
