We’ve reached the March Madness baby names 2022 girls semifinals!
First, a look back at where we’ve been so far.
The contest started with sixteen names, all drawn from the most-viewed posts at Appellation Mountain last year: Alessandra, Bernadette, Betty, Faye, Laken, Maisie, Marigold, Marlowe, Navy, Noa, Oakley, Persephone, Senna, Vera, Zella, and Zuzu.
We voted those down to eight, and now those eight names have been narrowed to just four!
Let’s look back at the last week’s results:
- Vera sailed past Zella, commanding over 73% of the vote.
- By the thinnest margin, Alessandra just barely squeaked past Faye with almost 51% of the total.
- It was tight for a while, but Marigold ultimately scored over 57% of the tally to triumph over Maisie.
- With a little over 53% of the score, Marlowe advances, while Persephone takes a seat.
The contests do tend to get closer as the competition heats up – which is how it should be right? I think that’s how the other March Madness works, too – the one with the basketballs.
That leads us to the semifinals!
