Calling All Lurkers

If you’re a regular here, you’ll know that the best way to request a Baby Name of the Day is to email appmtn (at) gmail (dot) com.

But if you’re not quite that bold, here’s your chance: if you’ve never, ever, ever requested a NotD here, go ahead and leave a suggestion in the comments.

Love to hear your thoughts on my daughter’s name: Willa. I hear it everywhere now, but it still hasn’t cracked the SSA’s top 1000 names for girls since the first half of the 20th century.

I would love to see a post about the name Edmund, it’s my favorite name and I have been lurking hoping it would come up for about a year now. I also second Cecily’s suggestion of Antonia, another one of my favorites.

Sorry to post again, but I have another name I would like to see for NotD – Hazen. It’s a boy’s name, and I came across it while doing researching some Canadian history (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazen_Argue). I think Hazen is a very interesting name; I misread it as Hazel when I first saw it!

Hi I am a long time lurker, I have never commented or suggested a name before.

I am having my first baby in October and the names we like are Felix for a boy or Greta for a girl. It would be nice to learn a bit more about the names in name of the day.

    Thanks!

I’d like to suggest my name – Bella. I actually chose this name for myself about 10 years ago, before it became really popular! I’d like to know some of the history behind it.

You know, on second thought, there is a name that I’ve never been able to find out much about… My boss’ name, Munevera, pronounced mon-EV-ra.

She’s Croatian, and I think the name is beautiful… She goes by the nickname Moni, and I just think it’s exotic and lovely.

I am obsessed with your site! I feel so much better knowing that there are other name-nerds out there… My mother used to look at me awfully funny when I was a kid and the books I came home from the library with were baby name books, lol.

As for the NotD, how about Tracy? I know, I know, it’s straight outta the early eighties… but it’s my name, and so am I, so why not? 🙂

Tracy will be featured on July 22!

You know that I love Gray and don’t want anyone else to know about it! Oh well, would love to see it as NotD. I love Gray as a nn for Grady, which has been in my family for four generations that I know of. Just brainstorming here…it would also work for Graham, Graeme, Grace, Grainger, Grail/Grael, Graydon or Grayson.
