Whether you're naming a baby, or just all about names, you've come to the right place! Appellation Mountain is a haven for lovers of obscure gems and enduring classics alike.
This is my boyfriends name and I love it. Petnames are hard to come by but I call him eggie or eddie. I’ve never heard the name before, but he is so funny and cute that I’ve even thought about giving this name to our future children.
I had never thought much of Edgar despite liking most Ed- names (particularly Edmund and Edwin). Then I met a friend in college who had the last name of Edgar, and it totally made me think, “Wow, Edgar isn’t too bad!” So it’s funny how a positive association can push the name that much over the line into “usable”.

I really dig Edgar. Because of Poe and I think it’s got that very nice goth feeling. It’s quite rare as well.

I secretly call crotchety old men Edgars. It just fits.
Even the fabulous Edgar Wright can’t change my feelings on this one.
