Time for the New Names Showdown 2018 Girls Final!
We started out with eight names, all new to the US Top 1000 list. Some were returning after an absence; others debuted for the very first time. But every one of them have potential to catch on in the coming years. From Octavia, Saanvi, Amora, Luella, Emerald, Marlowe, Florence, and Yara, just two names remain.
Let’s look at last week’s results. In the SemiFinal round:
- Sleek, modern Marlowe advanced, beating quirky, vintage Luella 61% to 39%. I’ve been waiting for Marlowe to make the Top 1000 for a few years now, so I’m not surprised to see this name faring well in the contest.
- But this next contest is a stunning upset! Octavia beat all comers by a wide margin. Up until this round, when Florence squeaked by, 52% to 48%. That works out to less than 30 votes, so maybe it’s too close to call it an upset. But I had Octavia pegged as a possible winner of the whole shebang, so color me impressed.
Which of these names will join Arden and Sylvie in the winner’s circle? That’s up to you!
But before we open voting, a reminder: you’re not necessarily voting for the name you personally prefer. You’re choosing the name you think will rise fastest in the coming years.
