Welcome back to March Madness Baby Names 2025 Girls Quarter Finals!

Every year, we spend the month of March in a friendly competition. We take the sixteen wild, wonderful, most-viewed names at Appellation Mountain from the prior year, and set them up, bracket-style. The competition reveals just one girls’ champ and a single victor on the boys’ side, too.

Now let’s jump right in to the results from last week’s match-ups.

MARCH MADNESS BABY NAMES 2025: RESULTS FROM OPENING ROUND

Tallulah trounced Zona, coming in with over 85% of the vote. This rising favorite feels unstoppable right about now.

Flora decimated James with a stunning almost 92% of the vote. That might be the most decisive opening-round victory yet.

Poppy commanded nearly 80% of the vote against the fascinating, but obscure Valancy.

Mini name Noa won a decisive victory against mom name Kelsey with a little over 60% of the total.

Beautiful Calista swept past sweet Dulcie with nearly 69% of the vote.

True blue Azura garnered just over 90% of the total, sending rare Paralee back to the archives.

Strong and lovely Saskia earned just over 63% of the vote, leaving sparky mini name Nori in the dust.

Lastly, with just shy of 84% of the vote, traditional Alice advances, while Alifair stays in the shadows.

That leaves us with just eight remaining contenders, and four match-ups, in the quarterfinals.

And may I just say? Some of these are gonna hurt!

  3. So anyways, I’ve been thinking Amanda Rebecca Samantha & Jennifer deserve a boost. They’ve all got a variety of nicknames that for some reason people haven’t noticed yet

    Rebecca: Rex, Rocky, Roxy, Rory

    Amanda: Annie, Edie, Addie, Maddie (Though the last 2 are way overexposed)

    Jennifer: Finn, Gwen, Neve, Ferry, Josie, Effie (And possibly but not likely Jeff & Jerry)

    Samantha: Sally, Sadie, Mattie (possibly floral names bc of Antha)

    I’m just sad that this is the default feminine of Sam. There’s also Sama, Samia, Samira & Samara.

    Sama means Sky, Samara means Evening Companion, none of these are related to Sam, but they’re certainly a lot fresher

    Katherine nn Boone bc Kathryn means Pure and Boone means Good. One of my fave Girly name Boy nn

    Julian nn Juno / Jem (I came up with so many more logical ones but I forgot them all!! 🙁

    Abraham nn Ham, Rio

    I got a full Docs Document dedicated to this, its got over a hundred names in it, including pan-classics like Calista & Orinthia 🙂
