To state the obvious: When it comes to names, asking AI for suggestions is really asking for a super-quick amalgamation of what others think.
That’s not necessarily a problem. Except that parents often look for an unusual name. Something distinctive and fresh.
So we ask AI for a list of unique girl names.
The list? Includes two Top 100 favorites (Nova and Maeve) plus a few more Top 200/300-ish choices (Thea, Wren, Ophelia, Alora). It lists Top 1000 Elowen, overlooking the far more common spelling Elowyn, both fast-rising chocies. Similarly, it puts trending Top 1000 name Amaris on that list. Two of the ten suggestions – Seren and Aella – feel like they’re maybe viable candidates for the unique name title.
The very nature of AI means it can’t answer certain types of questions with the level of analysis and nuance they require.

How do you get from a list of favorites to just one final name? I kind of love this approach. They put all eight finalists in a cup and pulled out one slip of paper at a time. The last one they pulled became their daughter’s name. It’s Dorothea called Dotty. This approach might not work for everyone, but if your list is long? It’s one approach to consider.
I’m not saying this works, but this Insta connecting your favorite names to your coffee order? A version of my daughter’s name and my second favorite name for a girl both appear alongside my favorite drink, so … Matcha Latte people, are you into names like Briar and Birdie? I can see it.
