Every round of March Madness Baby Names brings us closer and closer to crowning a new champion! A girls’ name that will join past victors like Louisa (2011), Isla (2013), and Margot (2019), as well as last year’s victor, Gemma.
Your votes narrowed the eight names competing in the QuarterFinals to just four contestants ready to advance to the Semis.
Let’s review last week’s results, and then – of course! – open the voting again.
MARCH MADNESS BABY NAMES 2024: QUARTERFINALS RESULTS
BERNADETTE SWEEPS PAST NAVY
With over 68% of the total, Bernadette advances to the SemiFinals. Bernadette has the makings of a vintage name on the comeback trail, a little sister for Eleanor or Florence. An -ette ending name parents will discover if Colette and Beatrice climb much higher. Navy, on the other hand, is a trending choice – popular and stylish, but not quite as exciting.
TALLULAH BESTS BETTY
Both of these names could be – should be – trending. But neither has quite made it there just yet. Still, it’s Tallulah, long and lovely, that advances with just over 54% of the votes. Something tells me Betty will be back, though …
LILA DEFEATS ELOWEN
On another site, Lila would’ve destroyed Elowen. But here this perpetually popular L-l name managed just 54% of the tally. Elowen, also big on the L sound, of course, is a fast-rising favorite, though it’s Elowyn that just debuted in the US Top 1000.
MAISIE TROUNCES NOA
This isn’t Maisie’s first trip to March Madness Baby Names. In fact, Maisie just barely lost to Gemma in 2023. This year, Maisie dispatched Noa with 70% of the total. The vintage nickname name feels unstoppable.
