My sister is Carol, named for my mom’s best friend (who was born in the 40s), so it feels like a girl’s name to me for sure. I always wondered why my mom didn’t make it Caroline, tho, as the others of us are Elizabeth & Margaret. There weren’t too many Carols growing up in the 70s, altho it does seem like a 70s name (for adults like Carol Burnett & Carole King). I love the name, of course!
