January 2012 Name Narrow Down

Question mark

Ah, success. Once upon a time I was sitting around, twiddling my thumbs, deciding which names to profile. That was May 2008. I averaged about 47 page views a day before I started the series – clearly it was successful, because by the end of the month, traffic had tripled.

Now I find I have the opposite problem. I’ve written about a mountain’s worth of names, but there’s always another suggestion to explore. If I could, I would write about each and everyone of them.

But I can’t.

So I’ve decided to run polls to narrow down the suggestions. As I was compiling the first batch, I realized there’s a hidden bonus to this process. Inevitably, I’ll write about at least some boys’ names – right now girls’ suggestions overwhelm the ideas for boys.

Voting will remain open until Tuesday, October 11 at noon. The top names will be featured in January 2012.

Suggestions for future Baby Names of the Day are always welcome via email to appmtn (at) gmail (dot) com. The more to vote on, the merrier!

I used to leave on Reynard St., so that’s my vote.

I also voted for Mazarine and Reynard! I already researched Mazarine a little when I first came across it but I’d love to read more about it. If it wouldn’t be mistaken for Nazarene where I live, it would be in my top 3 for future daughters.

Ihaka by far the most interesting boy name there.

Mazarine for girls, it looks and sounds intriguing.

I voted for Garance and Reynard too. I know this is a diplomatic poll, but pretty please do Garance!

      Same, same!

I’ve got new suggestions for ya, Abby, but I’m going to keep them to myself. It looks like you’re bursting with suggestions right now! But, I do love a good vote!
