Sunday Summary: 6.4.23

Sunday Summary 6.4.23It’s yearbook and graduation season!

First, if you have a young person walking down the aisle to Pomp and Circumstance right about now, congratulations! Wishing them confidence in themselves as they choose their path.

But of course, I really want to know: have you spotted any amazing names?

ELSEWHERE ONLINE

We have plans to see the new Little Mermaid movie soon, so obviously Ava to Zeke’s Mermaidcore list was a must-read for me.

What names are especially big in your state? I’m not surprised to see Helen pop up in Maryland. I hear it lots – I’d call it the new Eleanor in my part of the world. The Virginia and DC names make a lot of sense to me, too. Do the most state-specific names for your home feel like they’re big in your circles?

Loved this list of names that just missed the US Top 1000 at The Well-Informed Namer. Boaz, Veer, Tallulah!

Whoa, this is some AMAZING name-based plot prediction sleuthing by Sophie. The ending was there all along, but it took some digging into the characters’ names to figure out who would win Succession.

I’ve never been to the mall in this story, but I’ve driven past the exit for it a bunch of times, and always thought it was a really pretty name. Apparently Charles Barkley agreed.

That’s all for this week. As always, thank you for reading – and have a great week!

I don’t think I know of any human children with the Utah state-specific names. I do know a couple dog Millies.
