In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, today’s re-run is the saintly, heroic, and completely overlooked Martin.

Back on December 31, 2008, I originally wrote about January. The actress is even more famous than she was then, and other calendar names have been heard more frequently. And yet this choice remains rare … for now.
I had promised to profile Octavia for Friday, except that – once again – I had already written about this lovely appellation. And so today’s re-run is Octavia.

So here are my December 31, 2008 predictions for 2009. The original text is unaltered (though I did add links for names I’ve covered since then) and the analysis is in blue text below the original prediction.
She remains one of my favorites, a name with history that still counts as modern. She’s also the name of one of Jodi’s lovely girls.
I’ve been thinking lately about names that I might have chosen for a son if we hadn’t opted to stick with family names. Ezra is one that has really grown on me. He’s on trend, but still relatively underused, and revisiting the 2008 post made me like him even more.

A few of you have mentioned that with a world of names to profile, it isn’t terribly satifsfying to see re-runs.
I agree. There are always rafts of names that I’m dying to dive into, and I’m always tempted to move forward. Editing is not my favorite task.

So here’s one of the very first posts from May 2008, all rebooted with fascinating data that has my mind spinning. Please go here to read and comment on Baby Name of the Day: Rhys.
Today’s repost is a little different. Instead of brushing up just one name, I decided that it was time to revisit the Alphabet Posts. If you were around in 2008, they were lists of names by, well, the letter of the alphabet. I managed to write a total of five or six before I started writing Names of the Day.
They’re more interesting than I remember! Since I’ve been thinking about the letter C lately, I thought it made sense to revisit Alphabet: C is for Girls.
