Oh, you're calling her Rosy! That's even better. Should I ever have a second daughter, Rosemary remains our #1 name, but we're planning on Romy.

Wishing you lots of lovely days of snuggling with your new daughter ... it goes by SO fast!

I'm still in shock over the Today Show segment. Oy oy oy!
Richlinde reminds me of JonBenet...
Rosemary Amelie is awesome. Props to Chanara-and congratulations!
As for Daphne, well, I knew a girl named Shaka (as in Khan, not Zulu) who named her daughter Dafni. She was named after the character on Scooby-Doo, but Mommy wanted a distinctive look for the name. (Isn't Daphne a distinctive name without a spelling change?)
Ewww. Gilbert Gottfried had a child this year? Isn't he, like, 60-something?
At least Chris Robinson spelled Cheyenne correctly! Over on Y!A I see more suggestions for Shyanne than make me comfortable.

Hi Meredith - thank you for the clarification and my apologies - I'll make the correction above.

That's an interesting question about spelling variations. My gut reaction is that it wouldn't necessarily be a steady increase in percentage, but I'd have to look at some actual numbers ... I'm intrigued!

And thank you!

Hi :)

The Omaha World Herald article is by Cleveland Kent Evans, who is male.

On UK names only, he's quoting me, and I'm female.

One of the things I do with the complete list for the UK is combine spellings. Daphne appears as Daphne, Daphnee and Dafne. And this is an uncommon name. Try for example Demi, which appears as Demi, Demee, Demie,Demii, Demy, Demmi, Demmie and even Dhemmi. I won't list the 48 variant spellings for Lily-May. Given the number of kids named every year in the US, it would be interesting to know whether the number of spelling variants increases in line with population.

Oh, and I do like this blog.
