If you celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a very merry holiday!
In non-jingle bell news this week:
- For Real Baby Names spotted a little girl called Majestyk Valley. What do you say ’bout that except For Real Baby Names spotted a little girl called Majestyk Valley;
- In Arizona, For Real spotted a few surprising choices – including Clark, Estelle and Kenzo. I love seeing Clark in use;
- Nancy spotted a set of quintuplets born to a Nebraska couple called Anna, Brody, Ciara, David and Ella. I cannot imagine coming up with five names at once, and I think their parents did a nice job – they’re clearly siblings without being too matched;
- The sharp-eyed Nancy also scanned past the unsurprising news that Sophie and Jack are the top Scots names for 2009 and spotted a baby girl called Renesme. I do not believe for a second that the parents hadn’t heard of Twilight. Plus a boy named Ringo and a girl called Vanilla;
- I don’t have my thoughts together yet, but one of the 2010 predictions is that the Addies are going to gang up and overtake the Maddies. Don’t believe me? Check out Sebastiane’s post on Adela – just a few of the lovely ways to get to Addie;
- Baby Names Garden has crowned Sparrow James Midnight the Best Celebrity Baby Name of 2009. By “best,” they mean “different, unique, exotic, imaginative and completely wacky.” Fair enough. But I’m not sure Sparrow tops #3 Mars or #6 Bandit.
In celebrity news, while Johnny Knoxville welcomed a son named Rocko:
- The Young and the Restless’ Thad Luckinbill and Amelia Heinle welcomed a daughter called Georgia March. She joins big brothers Thaddeus Rowe, Jr. and August Manning. What a nicely named trio;
- Their castmate, Michelle Stafford, welcomed a daughter wearing the seasonally appropriate Natalia Scout Lee.
Check back this week. In addition to the usual Names of the Day, I’ll be posting the Top Names of the Day of 2009. Thanks for reading!

I love seeing Clark and Estelle. How refreshing!
A friend of mine just gave birth to a baby Clark.
Look forward to seeing the top NOTDs!
Wahoo! A baby Clark!
Clark is a great holiday name, after Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) in Christmas Vacation! JK
Funny you should mention that, Joy. Clark is on my short list because my dad – Eric – answered to the nickname Clark after, yes, the Griswold family patriarch. There was a particularly chaotic road trip back in my early teens, station wagon and all.
The quints are ABCDE, by the way. I’m sure you knew that.
Love Clark. Too cute.
I also love Geogia March…well, the Georgia part, anyway.
Vanilla? Hm. Nope, that won’t cut it.
As for Majestyk Valley, well, at least it’s not Charisma Mystalyn.
I’ve heard that in higher order multiple births the doctors refer to the babies as ABCDE and so on. I’m guessing the parents used that to narrow down their possible name choices, which makes it sort of less weird and more bizarre all at once. But hey, it could’ve been Analyn, Braisen, Caydinz, Drayvhin and Emmehleah.
Great summary, Hope you had a great holiday! We got the best Christmas gift ever, our daughter was born Christmas Eve! We finally decided on Rosemary Amelie Belle!
Congratulations!
Thanks! Birth story and pictures are on my blog http://chanara.wordpress.com/
Ew Someone actually used Renesmee! (Thats how they spelled it in the book)
Bree, I can’t decide what is stranger – that they used the name or that they changed the spelling.
Who knows? Maybe twenty years from now Renesmee will be in the Top Ten and I’ll have to eat my hat.
