Asher was the lead character Jonas’ best friend, and I love how Lowry plays on the names’ meanings by giving Asher, meaning cheerful, the future job of director of recreation. I would use the name, but I have Jonas already and I don’t want to make it a theme. I’ve always had a thing for traditionally Jewish names, though.
